Since opening its doors on December 1, 2000, Troy University’s Rosa Parks Museum has stood as a powerful tribute to the life of civil rights icon Rosa Parks and the pivotal Montgomery Bus Boycott that sparked lasting change in transportation and civil rights worldwide. Located in downtown Montgomery, Alabama—the very site of Mrs. Parks’ arrest—the museum is the nation’s only institution solely dedicated to preserving and sharing her remarkable legacy.
Our mission is to honor Rosa Parks and the boycott by fostering scholarly dialogue, civic engagement, and positive social change.
The museum houses an extraordinary collection of historically significant artifacts, including:
The original fingerprint arrest record of Rosa Parks
A 1950s-era Montgomery city bus
Original artwork such as statuary and quilts
Court documents and police reports
A restored 1955 "rolling church" station wagon used to transport protesters
The Rosa Parks Museum is committed to:
Collecting, preserving, and exhibiting artifacts related to Rosa Parks, the Montgomery Bus Boycott, and the broader Civil Rights Movement
Offering educational programs and resources for K-12 students, adults, and lifelong learners
Engaging diverse audiences through cultural events, temporary exhibitions, and initiatives that promote social awareness, cultural appreciation, acceptance, and peace
Your gift to the Rosa Parks Museum helps us enhance the visitor experience and continue inspiring generations to learn, reflect, and act.
Thank you for supporting this vital tribute to courage and change.
